Join Melissa McLaughlin and Sara Hess for a daylong Nature and Yoga retreat in beautiful Point Reyes, California. The morning begins with a hike along the stunning California Coastline in Point Reyes National Seashore with a picnic lunch on the beach.

After a short break, we’ll meet up at Point Reyes Yoga studio for an extended Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga practice. This All Levels practice will be expertly sequenced to cultivate strength and ease in body and mind.

Sara and Melissa share a passion for the outdoors and offering the tools of yoga practice in an accessible, fun, and inspiring way. Both are deeply committed to bridging the classical teachings of the yoga tradition with modern movement science. Sara drawing from her background as a dancer and Melissa as an athlete and personal trainer. Be prepared to explore your practice with curiosity, play, and ample time for stillness, restoration, and meditation. You’ll leave feeling grounded, open, and ready for the coming season.

Need to know:

-The group will meet at 9 am inside Toby’s Feed Barn to carpool to the trail head. 

-All Sales are Final. No refunds on retreat payments.

-Retreat will run rain or shine. Be prepared for any weather from foggy to blue sunny skies. 

-Lunch location may change depending on the days weather conditions. 

-Please advise retreat hosts of dietary needs or health conditions at least one week prior to retreat date.

Jason strives to communicate the essence of the Yoga Tradition, while modernizing the biomechanics and language of this timeless tradition.

This weekend workshop series is dedicated to making all of the minor changes, updates, and upgrades that will make your Vinyasa yoga practice a sustainable, transformative practice for decades to come. This series includes three 2.5 hr practices expertly designed as a comprehensive method to help you move your flow forward.

A Modern Approach to the Core & Bandhas:

In this workshop, you will:

-Unpack and demystify the language of the Bandhas. You’ll learn about the Traditional teachings of these actions in order to evaluate them in a modern context.

-Experience a modern approach to the Bandhas that helps strengthen your core, stabilize your spine, and improve your breathing.

-Update your understanding of traditional teachings with a modern understanding of the core and spine.

-Deepen every posture category, including twists, forward bends, and arm balances. 

Saturday September 14th, 3:30 pm-6:00 pm:

Reformatting the Flow for Our Shoulders and Wrists

In this workshop, you will:

-Strengthen the entire shoulder girdle and cultivate greater balance in your shoulders, neck and upper back.

-Learn to decrease the excessive movements that Vinyasa yoga asks of our shoulders and wrists. Similarly, you will integrate more postures that most vinyasa yoga sequences ignores, thereby creating greater stability in your shoulder joints.

-Identify key techniques in all weight bearing postures that will decrease repetitive stress in your shoulders and wrists.

-Create balanced range of motion in your entire shoulder girdle.

-Update your understanding of best practices for shoulder and wrist health in contemporary vinyasa yoga.

Sunday September 15th, 12:00 pm-2:30 pm:

A New, Balanced Approach to the Hips

In this workshop, you will:

-Learn what parts of the hip need the greatest attention for modern practitioners that spend an inordinate amount of time in chairs.

-Establish an updated approach to vinyasa yoga that strengthens, stabilizes and stretches the entire hip socket in balanced way.

-Create greater range of motion in the entire hip joint while giving your poor hamstrings a break.

-Make progress on postures that demanding of the hip-joint such as Padmasana and Hanumanasana.

Quiet the mind, relax the body, connect. Receive the nurturing, healing,

Yoga Nidra is a state of mind between wakefulness and sleep that opens deep recesses of the body/mind, inducing total relaxation.  In savasana, you’ll be taken on a guided meditation, moving your awareness to different parts of the body to revitalize the subtle energy channels, relieving stress and fatigue from the physical body, heart and mind. This workshop will offer guided Yoga Nidra in the traditional form, moving awareness through eight stages--Internalisation, Sankalpa (intention), Rotation of Consciousness, Breath Awareness, Manifestation of Opposites, Creative Visualization, Sankalpa (Intention) and Externalisation. Come re-charge your batteries and rejuvenate  yourself for the new year!
 

All levels welcome.
